Anaheim Ducks sign defenseman Trevor Carrick to one-year contract

The Anaheim Ducks announced that they have signed defenseman Trevor Carrick to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.

Carrick spent the 2022-23 season with the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he registered 15 goals and 31 assists for 46 points in 60 games. Among Crunch defensemen, he led in goals and ranked second in scoring and assists. 

Carrick joins Anaheim for the second time in his career after spending two seasons with the club in 2020-21 and 2021-22. He spent both of those seasons in the AHL with the San Deigo Gulls, and in 2021-22 he recorded 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 61 games. His brother Sam also plays for the Ducks organization.

The Stouffville, Ontario, product was initially drafted No. 115 by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in 2015-16. In 2018-19 while playing for the Canes’ AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, he notched 47 points in 73 regular season games and added three goals and 12 points in 16 games as the Checkers went on to win the Calder Cup. Carrick was also named to the AHL All-Star Game for the second time in his career.

Throughout his career thus far, Carrick has appeared in seven career NHL games with San Jose and Carolina. But he has appeared in 555 career AHL games with San Diego, Syracuse, San Jose and Charlotte, tallying 76 goals and 216 assists for 292 points in 555 games.
