The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Ryan Strome to a five-year deal carrying a $5 million annual cap hit, according to multiple reports.

Strome, 29, is a right-handed center who scored 21 goals and 54 points in 74 games with the New York Rangers during the 2021–22 regular season. He added two goals and nine points in 19 playoff games as the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Final.

Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli subsequently reported the full terms of the contract: five years at a $5 million cap hit.

The New York Islanders selected Strome with the No. 5 pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The 6’1″ forward spent the first four seasons of his career on Long Island before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2017.

Strome struggled to find a fit over parts of two seasons in Edmonton before being dealt to the Rangers for Ryan Spooner early in the 2018–19 season. He racked up 71 goals and 195 points in 263 games with New York between 2018 and 2022.

With Strome in the fold, the Ducks now have a forward group locked up for 2022–23 that includes Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry, Adam Henrique, Jakob Silfverberg, Frank Vatrano, Strome, Maxime Comtois, Derek Grant, Mason McTavish, and Max Jones.

In 621 career regular-season games with Edmonton and both New York teams, Strome has amassed 130 goals and 357 points. He’s also recorded five goals and 19 points in 37 career playoff contests.
