A couple of young prospects are sticking around Southern California for a couple more years.

On Monday, the Anaheim Ducks announced that the team has signed forwards Sam Colangelo and Tim Washe to two-year contracts. Both deals are two-way contracts for the 2025-26 season, with each player moving to one-way deals the following year.

According to PuckPedia, Colangelo’s contract carries an NHL AAV of $850,000, with a minor-league salary of $375,000 minor-league salary for next season. Washe’s contract has a cap hit of $812,500, with an AHL salary of $125,000.

Colangeo has been with the Ducks organization since the team took him in the second round, 36th overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft. After making his NHL debut late in the 2023-24 campaign, Colangelo split his first full rookie season between Anaheim and its American Hockey League affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. In 32 games with the Ducks, Colangelo scored 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. With the Gulls, the 23-year-old potted 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points in 40 games, good for fifth on the team in scoring.

In 35 NHL games, Colangelo has scored 13 points. In his 44 AHL appearances, he has posted 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 points. The Stoneham, Massachusetts native is coming off his two-year, entry-level contract, which had an NHL cap hit of $925,000.

Washe is looking to build off an incredible 2024-25 season. The undrafted center captained the Western Michigan Broncos to the program’s first NCAA national championship. He set career highs in goals (16), assists (22) and points (38), was named the NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year and earned a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament Team along the way.

Then, the Clarkston, Michigan native signed a one-year contract with the Ducks, appearing in the team’s final two games of the regular season.

In 171 games as a Bronco, Washe notched 28 goals and 46 assists for 74 points.

The two players have experience on the same team before joining the Ducks. Colangelo and Washe both played at WMU during the 2023-24 season, Colangelo’s fourth year of college hockey after three years at Northeastern University.
