Ducks sign top prospect Roger McQueen to entry-level contract

The Anaheim Ducks announced on Saturday afternoon that they have signed top prospect Roger McQueen to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The Ducks landed McQueen with the No. 10 overall pick of the 2025 NHL Draft, taking a chance on the big, skilled forward coming of of a draft year that saw him play just 17 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL.

When Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis took stock of Anaheim’s prospect pipeline last summer, one that had graduated an immense amount of high-level talent to the NHL in the two seasons prior, he ranked McQueen as the No. 2 prospect in the Ducks’ system, behind only Beckett Sennecke.
“McQueen has a big 6-foot-5 frame, but moves like someone significantly smaller and lighter – in the best way possible,” Ellis wrote. “He can shoot, pass and intimidate all in one shift… his pure talent is undeniable.”
Like many of the top prospects from the last draft class and this one, McQueen opted to leave the WHL and play collegiate hockey in the NCAA, joining the Providence College Friars.
His freshman, and now his only, season in Rhode Island, ended with 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points in 36 games played. The Saskatoon native finished second on the Friars in assists and third in points.
Upon the conclusion of his college season, McQueen joined Anaheim’s affiliate in San Diego to make his professional debut on an ATO, and now he officially joins the organization ahead of the team’s return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2018.
After a strong effort in the regular season that saw them finish 43-33-6, the Ducks are gearing up for a first-round series against the Edmonton Oilers as the No. 3 seed from the Pacific Division against the No. 2.
