Two of the more storied goaltenders over the last decade might be getting exposed for the expansion draft.

According to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the L.A. Kings are believed to have left goaltender Jonathan Quick exposed in the expansion draft. At the same time, Seravalli also said it’s believed the Montreal Canadiens have “at least discussed” leaving goaltender Carey Price exposed in the draft.

Quick’s game has fallen off in recent years and it shouldn’t come as a major surprise to see the Kings expose him. The 35-year-old has posted a 43-54-13 record over the last three seasons to go along with a .869 save percentage and an abysmal -40.9 goals saved above average. He still has two years remaining on a deal paying him an AAV of $5.8-million.

Price, meanwhile, has continued to play at a relatively high level. He’s posted a 74-56-17 record over the last three years with a .912 save percentage and a 10.2 goals saved above average. The 33-year-old has five years left on a contract paying him an AAV of $10.5-million.

It’s hard to imagine a situation where Seattle would taken either solely given their cap implications. With that being said, should Price be left exposed, his strong play as of late may entice to the Kraken to at least consider the move.

We’ll find out what could be next when the expansion lists are made public Sunday morning at 10 a.m. EST.
