With all 32 teams in action for NHL Frozen Frenzy on Tuesday, there will be plenty of unique sports betting offerings, but let’s focus in on the scoring.

Total Goals (Grand Salami)

The record for most goals in a single NHL day is 114, set on November 14, 2023, during 15 games. Last year’s Frozen Frenzy saw 102 goals, but despite a slight increase in scoring this season, oddsmakers have set the line at 100.5, favoring the under.

It’s important to note that over half of last season’s games featured five or fewer goals. The NHL was fortunate that two other matchups combined for nine goals, and three additional games featured 10 or more. Therefore, even though last year’s Frozen Frenzy had 102 goals, it’s not the norm, and sportsbooks are well aware of this.

Pick: Under 100.5 (-115)

Highest-Scoring Game Odds

When it comes to picking the highest-scoring game, the most obvious choices don’t often offer the kind of potential return that would be nice to see in a market such as this. However, the most obvious choices seem to be the best when it comes to Tuesday’s slate.

Of course, New Jersey and Tampa Bay will be one game that fans will circle for offense. The Lightning are coming off a 5-2 beatdown at the hand of the Maple Leafs on Monday, and Jonas Johansson is expected to start, or at least he was. That isn’t so clear now that Jon Cooper decided to pull Andrei Vasilevskiy in Toronto.

Colorado and Seattle is an intriguing game. The Avalanche and Kraken have been solid offensively, and Colorado has been a disaster defensively. No team has allowed more goals per 60 minutes than the Avalanche so far this season, but Alexandar Georgiev won’t be in the crease on Tuesday.

Los Angeles and Vegas at +1200 probably sticks out the most among the games in the middle of the field. I mean, six out of eight games that the Golden Knights have played have featured at least seven goals, including a 12-goal game against Colorado. Meanwhile, the Kings and Senators combined for the most goals in a game (15) so far this season. That said, David Rittich hasn’t allowed more than five goals in a game going back to his time with Nashville in November of 2021, and Vegas hasn’t allowed more than four goals all season.

There are some intriguing options, but personally, I just don’t think there’s enough value to justify making a pick here, especially considering what can be found in this market globally. I think the best option is to try to pick the highest-scoring team instead.

Highest-Scoring Team Odds

Toronto will likely hand the Blue Jackets a loss on Tuesday, but while Daniil Tarasov is usually a good bet to allow three-plus goals, I don’t think it’s a good idea to bet on the favorite at +650 when they’re one of two teams playing on the second half of a back-to-back.

Vancouver is another interesting option. The Canucks were involved in the two highest-scoring games last season, but the Chicago Blackhawks have been better defensively than they were last season. Chicago ranks 14th in goals against per 60 minutes this season. Vancouver also might be without J.T. Miller for Tuesday’s game.

Down the board, things get a little more interesting. The Jets lead the league in scoring right now and they put up eight goals versus San Jose, but the Sharks are the worst team in hockey and 16/1 is nowhere near good enough when we’re talking about a matchup between Connor Hellebuyck and Jordan Binnington. You’d have to go back to 2019 to find a meeting between these two Central Division teams that featured more than seven goals.

In my opinion, Dallas is the best bet at 14/1. The Stars haven’t scored more than four goals in a game this season, but this is the same offense that nearly led the league in scoring last season, and the Sabres are currently ranked 25th in goals against per 60 minutes.

The Stars were one of five teams to score nine-plus goals in a game last season, and they scored eight in one game as well. The Sabres, on the other hand, were one of four teams to allow nine-plus goals last season, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed eight goals in one game as well.

Pick: Dallas Stars +1400
