Tyler Yaremchuk: I have a couple of plays for tonight, starting with the matchup between the Philadelphia Flyers versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. I like taking Columbus in this hockey game; it’s a new era. I know that the Kent Johnson healthy scratch is becoming a story, but still, we got Adam Fantilli’s debut and the new blueline getting its first crack at regular-season hockey. I think that’s going to lead to an improved season for Elvis Merzlikins or whoever is in the net for Columbus; I think this game is priced a bit off, too, as I believe the Blue Jackets are the better team. I like rolling with the Blue Jackets at -114 on the Moneyline.

In the second game, it’s the New Jersey Devils taking on the Detroit Red Wings. I’m pretty high on the Devils but not high on the Red Wings. So why can’t the Devils start the season off right? You’re giving me a hair of plus money at +102. I’m taking that and going to sprinkle half a unit on Jack Hughes. He’s the favourite to score on the Devils’ side at +118. I have Hughes hitting 60 goals this year. I think this is the major breakout season for Hughes, and he will score on home ice.
