Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!

Round 2 in the NHL playoffs is upon us and Tuesday night featured the first two games of the divisional finals.

Starting in Toronto, the first round two game in 19 years in Toronto didn’t go to plan for the Leafs as the Florida Panther continued to perfect the underdog role and defeated the Leafs 4-2.

Sergei Bobrovsky channelled his inner Vezina trophy past stopping 34 of 36 shots, Brandon Montour continued his torrent goal scoring pace his sixth goal in eight post season games. Matthew Tkachuk three point effort has emerged him as an early Conn Smythe contender.

The other game one on Tuesday was a Western Conference battle between the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken. Joe Pavelski became the oldest player in playoff history to score a four goal game, but the resilient Kraken pulled off a 5-4 overtime win.

Wednesday night will feature the two other second round matchups between Vegas and Edmonton and Carolina and New Jersey. Here is a goalie bet I like for tonight’s game.

Goalie Prop

Akira Schmid to make under 30.5 saves at -115.

For fans of advanced stats, the matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils is a match made in heaven. Carolina finished 3rd in the league in shots for and 1st in the league in shots against and New Jersey finished 4th in the league in shots for and 8th in the league in shots against.

With both teams great at controlling the play I don’t expect either team to have as much shot output as they regularly do. Carolina had over 33 shots in one of their four matchups with New Jersey this season.

Last Game Bets

Ilya Samsonov to make under 29.5 saves at -118.

Samsonov made only 24 saves last night, much under the line of 29.5. Our record for the playoffs is now 3-2.
