Which big-name healthy scratch is the biggest concern for their team?

With 2025 reaching its final days, speculation is mounting toward the NHL Trade Deadline as teams across the league decide whether to make a significant move or sell off current players in hopes of a better future.
For several teams, trade speculation is already heating up, with healthy scratches towards some usual key contributors.
On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff Live, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk broke down which big-name healthy scratch is the biggest concern for their team, out of the Vancouver Canucks’ Jake DeBrusk, Edmonton Oilers’ Andrew Mangiapane and Columbus Blue Jackets’ Sean Monahan, considering each has various no-trade clauses.
Yaremchuk: Mangiapane is just 39 games into his Oilers career, and he’s got one more year at $3.6 million. Sean Monahan has three more years at $5.5 million. Jake DeBrusk has five more seasons at $5.5 million. Which one of these three do you think is the biggest deal to be sitting on the sidelines?
Hutton: It’s Jake DeBrusk, with the contract and where he’s at. This is a team that’s been through a lot of drama in Vancouver. You think back to the J.T. Miller saga, and bringing him in, and now you’ve cleaned the shelves out. The guys have been moved out. You’re in this mid-grade rebuild, or I’m not sure exactly what’s going on in Vancouver, and I don’t think anybody is.
This is a guy who should be in a leadership role, stepping up and playing better. That’s clearly not the case, and that is the most concerning one for me. The Mangiapane one is a bit of a head-scratcher, in the sense that it doesn’t seem like they can find anyone to fit. I think he gets overshadowed by Jack Roslovic’s recent success, coming in, playing well, and filling that role. Whereas Monahan has bounced around enough that Columbus is at the point where, at his age and where he’s at, he may become a piece that comes exposed, and you move him in a trade. But for me, it’s the DeBrusk one that worries me the most.
