The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Tyler Pitlick to a one-year, $750,000 deal on Tuesday.

Pitlick joined the blues on a tryout contract, but didn’t do enough to warrant an immediate contract offer. The 30-year-old had one goal and five points in 39 games between the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens. He has 89 points in 325 games with Edmonton, Dallas, Philadelphia, Arizona, Calgary and Montreal.

Pitlick should slot in a bottom-line role while giving the team some further depth once the team’s fully healthy. Pavel Buchnevich was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, which prompted the Pitlick signing. Brandon Saad is also out day-to-day with an upper-body injury suffered on Saturday against Edmonton.

Losing Buchnevich to a lower-body injury is a sizeable blow for the Blues. He has 78 points in 74 career games for St. Louis, scoring a goal and an assist in the season opener on Oct. 15. That’s the only game Buchnevich has played this season. No timeline for his return has been established.
