Bruins’ Jeremy Swayman deserves serious Vezina Trophy love early

One of the hottest teams in the NHL in the early weeks of the 2026-27 season is the Boston Bruins, with a lot of thanks going to their netminder.
After a bumpy 2024-25 season following an elongated contract dispute, Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman has shown why he earned an eight-year contract, especially this year. The 27-year-old has helped Boston reestablish itself as one of the top teams in the Atlantic Division, with the team currently fighting for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. While there’s a lot of hockey to be played in the expanded 84-game regular season, Swayman has been a key part of the B’s exceptional start to the young campaign.
In seven games, Swayman has a record of 6-1-0, tied with former teammate and Ottawa Senators star Linus Ullmark, as well as the Minnesota Wild’s Jesper Wallstedt, for the most wins so far in the NHL. Swayman also has a 1.85 goals-against average, a .934 save percentage and one shutout. If he can find some consistency and keep those numbers the same for most of the season, we might see Swayman in the Vezina Trophy conversation. Even in a league with so many talented netminders, Swayman has the ability to be a gamechanger for the Bruins, something that can put him in line for an award.
On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, former NHL netminder Devan Dubnyk explains why Swayman deserves to be in the Vezina Trophy.
Devan Dubnyk: I think that Boston is looking pretty damn good, and he’s kind of been, I mean, he’s always been great. He’s obviously had his one down year, but I think this year he just looks as good as he has. When he’s going, he’s lights out. I think Boston’s got a good squad too.
