On Tuesday, Boston Bruins general manager announced that the team has signed forward John Farinacci to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal carries an NHL cap hit of $775,000 through the 2025-26 season.

Farinacci is coming off his two-year, entry-level contract that he signed with the Bruins in August 2023. The deal had an AAV of $950,000, with a minor-league salary of $83,000.

While most of the Red Bank, New Jersey native’s young professional career has been spent with Boston’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins, he had a memorable debut in the NHL this past season. In his first game with the B’s on April 15, Farinacci scored his first NHL goal in a 5-4 overtime loss against the New Jersey Devils. At that point, Boston was eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention, but Farinacci ended up playing close to 11 minutes in the contest.

The 24-year-old had a solid rookie season with Providence in 2023-24, but he played well once again this past year. In 58 games, he potted 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points, registering a plus/minus of +9. Farinacci also scored a goal in eight Calder Cup Playoff games, as the Bruins were ultimately eliminated by the eventual Eastern Conference champion Charlotte Checkers in a thrilling five-game series in the second round.

In 129 regular-season appearances in the AHL, Farinacci has scored 22 goals and 54 assists for 76 points, including three points in 12 postseason games.

Farinacci was originally taken in the third round, 76th overall, by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2019 NHL Draft. However, after waiting it out for four years, playing three years at Harvard University, he became a free agent, signing with the Bruins as a result.

Along with his pro and college experience, Farinacci was a member of the United States team that won gold at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship.
