Boston Bruins sign Anton Stralman to one-year contract

The Boston Bruins have signed right-handed defenseman Anton Stralman to a one-year contract, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reported Tuesday.
Stralman, 36, scored eight goals and 23 points while averaging 21:20 in 74 games with the Arizona Coyotes during the 2021–22 regular season.
The Tibro, Sweden product will reportedly earn $1 million with the Bruins this season. He was attending Boston’s 2022 training camp on a professional tryout.

— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) October 11, 2022The Toronto Maple Leafs originally selected Stralman in the seventh round (No. 216 overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft. He started his NHL career with the Maple Leafs before making brief stops with the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers.
Stralman then played five seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, surpassing the 30-point mark twice and logging more than 21 minutes per night every year from 2014–15 to 2017–18.
The Florida Panthers signed Stralman to a three-year UFA contract in 2019. He spent two seasons in Sunrise before being traded to the Coyotes (alongside Vladislav Kolyachonok and a second-round pick) in 2021.
In 930 career NHL regular-season games with Toronto, Columbus, New York, Tampa Bay, Florida, and Arizona, Stralman has scored 63 goals and 293 points. He’s added 26 points (six goals, 20 assists) in 113 playoff contests.
Stralman will compete for playing time as a member of a Bruins defensive group that currently includes Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo, Matt Grzelcyk, Derek Forbort, Mike Reilly, Jakub Zboril, and Connor Clifton. Charlie McAvoy will start the season on long-term injured reserve.
