Bruins sign Navrin Mutter to one-year contract extension

The Boston Bruins announced on Thursday that they have signed forward Navrin Mutter to a one-year, two-way contract extension for the 2026-27 season that will carry a salary cap hit of $850,000 at the NHL level.
Mutter, a 25-year-old Ontario native, came over to the Bruins in a trade around the deadline in which Boston sent Massimo Rizzo and Dalton Bancroft to the Nashville Predators.
Mutter finished out the year playing with the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence, where he recorded one point, a goal, in 12 games to close out the regular season game before being held off the score sheet in four Calder Cup playoff games.
The six-foot-three forward had 5 points in 40 games with the Milwaukee Admirals in 2024-25, and had an assist in 27 appearances before the trade this season.
While Mutter is not likely to make an impact for Boston at the NHL level, this signing secures his presence as solid forward depth for the group in Providence. Among non-roster forwards within the organization, Mutter now joins Dans Locmelis as the only one signed to a contract for next season, according to PuckPedia.
Veterans Patrick Brown and Riley Tufte are among the pending unrestricted free agents, while Fabian Lysell, Riley Duran, Matthew Poitras and Alexis Gendron are set to be restricted free agents.
Coming off of a season that saw them qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in relatively surprising fashion, the Bruins are slated to have about $15 million in salary cap space for general manager Don Sweeney to look to add to the roster this summer. Winger Viktor Arvidsson and defenseman Andrew Peeke are the only pending unrestricted free agents on the NHL roster.
The Bruins made the postseason as the No. 1 wild card team in the Eastern Conference and fell short in the first round of the playoffs in a six-game series against the Buffalo Sabres.
