Fleet cut Aurard-Bushee, Babstock from training camp roster

A couple of notable names have been placed on waivers hours before rosters are to be finalized.
On Wednesday, the Boston Fleet announced that the team has cut forwards Chloe Aurard-Bushee and Kelly Babstock from their training camp roster. The team also released defender Olivia Muhn and goaltender Kaitlyn Ross, making them available to be signed by any of the other seven teams in the PWHL.
Aurard-Bushee’s name is a bit of a surprise, as she had signed a one-year standard contract with the Fleet in June. She came to Boston after a couple of tough years with the New York Sirens, where she struggled to find the same level of production she had when she played on a pretty good Northeastern team in college.
Last season, the 26-year-old potted two goals and two assists for four points in 27 games. That followed up an eight-point performance during the team’s inaugural season. In 48 career PWHL games, she has three goals and nine assists for 12 points.
Babstock, who was invited to camp once again, has been part of Boston since year one, filling in on the roster with both 10-day and standard contracts. The Mississauga, Ont. native played in nine games last season, but didn’t register a point. She probably could’ve played more had she not been suspended twice for her actions.
Babstock has recorded one assist in 21 games in the PWHL, regular season and playoffs.
Aurard-Bushee and Babstock both played in Boston’s second preseason game against the Montreal Victoire. Aurard assisted on Olivia Mobley’s goal in a 3-2 overtime loss.
As it stands, the Fleet has 20 players signed to contracts for the upcoming year – 12 forwards, six defenders and two goalies. They have to sign one more goaltender, along with two more skaters, to reach the max number of 23 before the season begins.
Rosters for the beginning of the 2025-26 season must be submitted at some point on Wednesday. The Fleet opens their campaign this Sunday against the Victoire in Lowell.
