Report: Panthers acquire Brady Tkachuk from Senators
The NHL trade market has been heating up lately, but the first true monster blockbuster deal is apparently nearing its completion.
According to a report from Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Florida Panthers are closing in on acquiring winger Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators in a trade that would reunite the current Senators captain with his older brother Matthew in South Florida.

According to LeBrun, the Panthers will send a package built around three first-round picks and a second-round pick to Ottawa. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, those picks are No. 9 and No. 25 overall in the first round of this year’s draft, a first-round pick in the 2029 draft and a second-round selection in 2030.
This season with the Senators, Tkachuk appeared in 60 regular season games, scoring 22 goals and dishing out 37 assists for a total of 59 points. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he was held off the score sheet in a four-game sweep at the hands of the eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
The younger Tkachuk, who was selected with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2018 NHL Draft, comes to Florida after completing eight seasons in Canada’s capital. In 572 career games played with the Sens, he racked up 213 goals and 250 assists for 463 points. Tkachuk captained the Senators to the playoffs in each of the past two years.

The two brothers have played together in international competition for Team USA, notably finishing second in the Four Nations Face-Off in 2025 before capturing Team USA’s first gold medal in men’s Olympic hockey since 1980 this past February in Milano-Cortina.
In the Olympic tournament, Brady Tkachuk appeared in six games in which he found the back of the net three times while adding two assists. The Tkachuk brothers tied for the team lead with 12 penalty minutes apiece.
Florida adds a massive presence to its roster, as the Panthers look to return to Stanley Cup contender status following an absence from the 2026 postseason.
