Bruins sign Sean Kuraly, Michael Eyssimont to two-year deals

The Boston Bruins reportedly reacquired an old friend in free agency on Tuesday by inking center Sean Kuraly to a two-year and made a new one by signing winger Mikey Eyssimont to a two-year pact of his own.

The B’s have always placed a high priority on team culture, and the pair of energy forwards will try to help them rediscover their identity under new coach Marco Sturm after a floundering 2024-25 campaign saw Boston miss the postseason for the first time in nearly a decade.
Kuraly is a returning Bruin who represented the club in 270 regular season contests and another 57 playoff games from 2016-2021. A fan favorite in Beantown, Kuraly served in a leadership role during a four-season exodus with the Columbus Blue Jackets, with whom he parted company after averaging career-low ice time (11:46 ATIO) last season.
The 32-year-old is in fine physical shape after completing his first-ever 82-game season , and will bring some feistiness to the Bruins’ bottom six. A regular at the heart of scrums and an occasional fighter, Kuraly pitched in with 17 points for the Blue Jackets last season and was a regular on the second PK unit.
Eyssimont is similarly a character guy, but with a somewhat different toolkit than his presumptive new linemate. A classic pest, the 29-year-old would have annoyed plenty of Bruins during parts of three seasons with the rival Tampa Bay Lightning.
Eyssimont fires a ton of pucks on goal and is occasionally rewarded (10 G per 82 GP). He’ll help Kuraly bring a spark to a Boston lineup that too often fell apart in close contests last season.
Kuraly and Eyssimont might not log huge minutes for the Bruins, but they’ll make Boston a tougher team to play against and impress pro qualities upon young teammates like Fraser Minten and perhaps even James Hagens.
Boston took another flier on a depth forward by adding Matej Blumel on a reported one-year pact later in the afternoon. Blumel could have a higher ceiling than known quantities like Kuraly and Eyssimont after a monster AHL campaign (39 G in 67 GP) with the high-powered Texas Stars.
Matej Blumel to Boston $875,000 one way.
