Buffalo Sabres acquire Wayne Simmonds

The Buffalo Sabres made a move to acquire Wayne Simmonds from the New Jersey Devils.

In exchange, the Devils will receive a conditional fifth-round draft pick. The pick can turn into a fourth-rounder if the Sabres make the playoffs and if Simmonds plays 10 games.

The Devils will retain 50% of Simmonds’ $5-million cap hit.

In 61 games with New Jersey this year, he’s scored eight goals and 16 assists.
