Sabres’ Norris, Benson out Saturday, Power game-time decision

The Buffalo Sabres will be without a few key players on Saturday.
Head coach Lindy Ruff told media on Friday that forward Josh Norris is being evaluated and is expected not to play Saturday against the Boston Bruins. He also said that forward Zach Benson will not play Saturday.
As for defenseman Owen Power, he’s expected to make the trip to Boston and may play.

Norris left the Sabres’ Thursday matchup agains the New York Rangers with an upper-body injury after taking a faceoff in the third period and falling awkwardly.
Norris, 26, has played just four games with the Sabres since being acquired by them in a trade with the Ottawa Senators last season. He’s left two of those games with injuries. Norris hasn’t played more than 60 games since the 2021-22 campaign.
Through seven NHL seasons, Norris has 91 goals and 67 assists for 158 points in 240 regular-season games with the Sabres and Senators.
As for Benson, the 20-year-old is entering his third full NHL campaign. In 2024-25, he scored 10 goals and added 18 assists for 28 points in 75 regular-season games. Through 146 career games, the 2023 No. 13 overall pick has 21 goals and 37 assists for 58 points.
As for Power, the league’s No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, he recorded seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points in 2024-25. He enters his fifth NHL season with 19 goals and 92 assists for 111 points in 242 career regular-season games, averaging 22:39 of ice time.
The Sabres went 36-39-7 with 79 points in 2024-25, finishing seventh in the Atlantic Division and with the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference.
