On Friday, the Buffalo Sabres announced that the team has re-signed forward Jack Quinn to a two-year contract extension. The deal will carry an AAV of $3.375 million through the 2026-27 season.

Quinn, who had been a pending restricted free agent, is coming off his entry-level contract, which carried a cap hit of $863,333, but had an AAV of $1,713,333 thanks to $850,000 of performance bonuses.

Quinn was initially taken in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft. He joined the Sabres’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, the following year. After spending most of the next two seasons in the AHL, Quinn became a full-time NHLer during the 2022-23 campaign.

The Ottawa native had a promising rookie season that year, scoring 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 75 games. His performance earned him a spot on the Canadian roster for the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Championship, contributing to the team’s gold medal victory.

Unfortunately, an Achilles’ injury and another lower-body ailment limited Quinn to just 27 games.

Yet, the 23-year-old bounced back this past season. Despite a couple of nights where he was a healthy scratch, along with missing two months after undergoing surgery in January, Quinn set career highs in goals (15), assists (24) and points (39) in 74 games.

In 178 career appearances with the Sabres, Quinn has scored 39 goals and 58 assists for 97 points. Along with his first experience with the senior national team two years ago, the former Ottawa 67 played for Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, taking home the silver medal.

With Quinn signed, the Sabres still have pending RFAs Bowen Byram, Ryan McLeod and Devon Levi to work on this summer. According to CapWages, Buffalo has a little over $18 million in cap space for the 2025-26 season.
