Buffalo Sabres sign Jeremy Davies to a one-year contract

Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams announced that the Sabres have signed defenseman Jeremy Davies to a one-year, one-way contract that will carry a cap hit of $775,000.

During the 2022-23 campaign, Davies played for the Sabres’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Rochester Americans, notching 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 66 games and an additional six points in 14 AHL Playoff games. He played one game with the Sabres.

The 26-year-old was initially drafted 192nd overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils after registering 49 points in 60 games while playing with the Bloomington Thunder of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Davies’s 49 points were good enough to lead all defensemen in the USHL, he was named to the USHL First All-Star Team. Davies spent three seasons with Northeastern University of the NCAA where he was given back-to-back NCAA (EAST) First All-Star Team nods. During the 2019-19 season, he helped Northeastern capture the NCAA Hockey East Championship registering 36 points in 37 games.

Following his NCAA tenure, Davies spent time in the Nashville Predators organization mainly with their AHL farm team the Milwaukee Admirals. Davies has played a total of 23 NHL games, recording three assists. The Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, product has appeared in 191 AHL games, recording 21 goals and 70 assists for 91 points and 189 penalty minutes.

During the 2017-18 season, Davies represented Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. In four games, he notched one assist.
