It appears the Calgary Flames are finally throwing their name into the trade mix acquiring forward Dryden Hunt from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The deal was first reported by The Athletic’s Shayna Goldman.

He started the year with the New York Rangers before being he was claimed off waivers by the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 20th. The Maple Leafs acquired him from the Avalanche in exchange for Denis Malgin on Dec. 19, and Hunt dressed in games for both the Leafs and their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

He’s appeared in 37 NHL games this season scoring three goals — one with the Rangers, one with the Avalanche and one with the Maple Leafs — and has appeared in 202 NHL games over the last six seasons. In them, he’s scored 15 goals and 43 points.

In return, the Maple Leafs are getting back forward Radim Zohorna in what is largely a minor-league, depth swap for both teams.

Zohorna, 26, stands at a hulking 6’6, 220 lbs. and is a left shot forward. He’s appeared in 33 NHL games over the last three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Flames scoring four goals and 10 points. He played in eight games with the Flames this season scoring no points.

He has been a presence in the American League appearing in 40 games for the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers scoring 10 goals and 29 points in 40 games.
