The Calgary Flames have listed winger Jonathan Huberdeau as day-to-day with a lower-body injury after he did not dress for Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Huberdeau, 32, is in the midst of his least productive season to date as a member of the Flames. The 6’1″ left wing has 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) through 44 games with the Flames this season and has not scored a goal since Dec. 31.

Martin Pospisil filled Huberdeau’s spot in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against Pittsburgh. Coincidentally, Pospisil missed the first 49 games of the 2025-26 season after sustaining a concussion during training camp and was only recalled from his AHL conditioning stint on Tuesday.

Huberdeau is in his fourth season with the Flames after being acquired from the Florida Panthers in 2022 as part of the blockbuster Matthew Tkachuk trade. But while Tkachuk has won back-to-back Stanley Cups in Florida, Huberdeau has struggled to live up to expectations in Calgary.

Despite signing an eight-year, $10.5-million AAV contract extension with the Flames immediately following the trade, Huberdeau has never surpassed 28 goals or 62 points in a single season with the club. For comparison, the Saint-Jerome, Quebec product scored 115 points in his final year with the Panthers.

Huberdeau debuted with the Panthers in the 2012-13 season after being drafted No. 3 overall by the club in 2011, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie. He ultimately spent 10 seasons with the Panthers, setting club records in virtually every offensive category, before being sent to Calgary alongside MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt, and a 2025 first-round pick (Cullen Potter).

In 956 career games over 14 NHL seasons split between Florida and Calgary, Huberdeau has collected 261 goals and 803 points. He’s added five goals and 21 points in 26 career playoff contests, all with the Panthers.
