The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenseman Nikita Zadorov to a two-year contract carrying an average annual value of $3.75, according to multiple reports.

Zadorov, 27, scored four goals and 22 points while averaging 16:55 in 74 games with the Flames in 2021–22. His new deal extends through the end of the 2023–24 season.

Originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (No. 16 overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Zadorov spent parts of two seasons in Buffalo before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 2015.

The 6’6″ left-handed defenseman played five seasons with the Avalanche, topping out at seven goals and 20 points while averaging 19:28 in 77 games with the team in 2017–18.

Acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks in a deal that sent Brandon Saad to Colorado in 2020, Zadorov spent one season in the Windy City before being traded to Calgary last summer for a 2022 third-round draft pick.

In 485 career regular-season games with Buffalo, Colorado, Chicago, and Calgary, Zadorov has scored 27 goals and 105 points while averaging 18:05. He’s also appeared in 45 playoff games during his career, including 12 with the Flames in 2022.
