The Calgary Flames announced Monday that the club has signed center Clark Bishop to a one-year, two-way contract extension that carries a $775,000 average annual value.

Through 66 appearances with the AHL affiliated Calgary Wranglers last season, Bishop notched 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points coupled with 31 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating. The 29-year-old native of St. John’s, N.L., then registered another two penalty minutes in two postseason appearances. On recall, Bishop also saw six showings with the Flames in which he finished with one goal and a minus-two rating while seeing more than seven minutes of time on ice per game.

Originally chosen by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Draft, Bishop has seen 53 career contests counting stops with the Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators, and Flames in which he has totaled two goals and seven assists for nine points. In 2019, Bishop made two appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs as part of the Hurricanes.

The journeyman forward has also seen significant playing time at the AHL level where over 10 seasons and 431 career contests he has posted 66 goals and 93 assists for 159 points. Prior to last season’s 38-point effort with the Wranglers, Bishop’s previous career high came in 2017-18 where as part of the Charlotte Checkers he recorded 28 points in 68 games. The following season, Bishop helped the Checkers claim the Calder Cup, putting up three points in 16 playoff appearances en route to the championship.

A graduate of the Canadian junior circuit, Bishop spent four seasons with the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles from 2012-16. In his final season, Bishop collected a career high of 39 points counting 16 goals and 23 assists coming in 50 contests. In all, through 202 total appearances with Cape Breton, Bishop notched 129 points.
