Montreal Canadiens forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard left Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens after suffering a lower-body injury, the club announced on its official Twitter account.

Harvey-Pinard headed down the tunnel from the Canadiens’ bench to their locker room after being on the receiving end of a thunderous check by Coyotes defenseman Troy Stecher.

The incident occurred with just 2:01 gone in the second period, with Harvey-Pinard slowly making his way to the Canadiens bench immediately afterward.

Harvey-Pinard logged just 5:06 of ice time before leaving the game with the injury. He did not record a shot on goal before his departure.

The Canadiens currently trail the Coyotes by a 3–2 score in the third period of play at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Sean Monahan and Brendan Gallagher have scored for Montreal; Lawson Crouse and Nick Schmaltz (twice) have scored for the Coyotes.

Harvey-Pinard, 24, has four assists in nine games with the Canadiens to start the 2023–24 season. The Saguenay, Quebec product collected 14 goals and 20 points in 34 games as a rookie with the Canadiens in 2022–23.

The Canadiens originally selected Harvey-Pinard in the seventh round (No. 201 overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. The 5’9″ winger made his NHL debut with the Canadiens in the 2021–22 season, picking up his first NHL goal in four games with the team.

Through 47 career games over parts of three seasons with the Canadiens, Harvey-Pinard has racked up 15 goals and 25 points. He has yet to make his Stanley Cup Playoff debut.

The Canadiens currently occupy third place in the NHL’s Atlantic Division with a 5–2–2 record and 12 points in nine games. After their game in Arizona, they’ll return to action on the road on Saturday to take on the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center.
