Last year was Mailloux’s first season of professional hockey, where in 72 regular-season games, he scored 14 goals and 33 assists for 47 points and 91 penalty minutes. He would be named an AHL All-Star midway through the season, as well as be named to the league’s All-Rookie Team following the 2023-24 season.
He played his first NHL game with the Canadiens last April, recording one assist in 21:14 of ice time in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
Taken No. 31 overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Mailloux would play parts of three with the London Knights between 2019 and 2023, with the full 2020-21 Canadian Hockey League season being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
His only full OHL campaign came in 2022-23, where in 59 regular-season games he scored 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points, followed up with eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 21 playoff games.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mailloux also played a full season in the Jr. B-level Greater Ontario Hockey League for the London Nationals, scoring 18 goals and 51 assists for 69 points in 48 regular-season games.
The Canadiens are 2-3-0 through five games in 2024-25. They lost 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night, opening the scoring midway through the first period off a Justin Barron goal before the Kings scored four unanswered goals.
Mailloux could make his debut Saturday night when the Canadiens travel to Long Island to face the New York Islanders.
