Hurricanes sign three RFAs to contracts

The Carolina Hurricanes announced a trio of restricted free agent signings on Wednesday.

The team signed goaltender Cayden Primeau to a two-year contract, while forwards Skyler Brind’Amour and Justin Robidas were signed to one-year, two-way deals.

All three players spent the majority of the 2025-26 campaign with the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.

Primeau, 27, will make $850,000 in 2026-27 and $975,000 in 2027-28.

Brind’Amour, also 27, will be paid $850,000 at the NHL level or $125,000 in the AHL, with a guarantee of at least $225,000. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Robidas will earn $850,000 in the NHL or $100,000 in the AHL with a guarantee of at least $125,000.

Primeau, a native of Farmington Hills, Mich., went 21-11-7 with a .916 save percentage and 2.41 goals against average in 39 regular-season games with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves in 2025-26. He also went 9-9 with a .913 SV% and 2.72 GAA in 18 AHL payoff games, helping the Wolves reach the Calder Cup Final last spring.

Brind’Amour had 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 68 games with the Wolves last season. He also had two goals and two assists for four points in 21 Calder Cup Playoff games.

As for Robidas, he finished with 23 goals and 37 assists for 60 points in 58 regular-season games with Chicago in 2025-26. He had seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 21 Calder Cup Playoff games last spring.

The Wolves went 36-21-8 with 87 points in 2025-26, finishing second in the Central Division. They reached the Calder Cup Final and were eliminated by the Toronto Marlies.
