Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour told reporters following the team’s Thursday night game against the New York Islanders that it “doesn’t look great” for Seth Jarvis after the forward blocked a shot late in the third period, forcing him to leave and not return.

Brind’Amour says the team will know more on Jarvis’ condition on Friday.

The Hurricanes’ forward needed help off the ice after blocking a shot from Islanders’ forward Kyle Palmieri.

The Hurricanes defeated the Islanders 6-2. Jarvis finished the game with two shots and 17:49 of ice time.

In 10 games this season, Jarvis has seven goals and four assists for 11 points. In five NHL seasons, the 23-year-old forward has 103 goals and 121 assists for 224 points in 314 career regular-season games.

Jarvis also has 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points in 55 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Last spring, he scored six goals and added 10 assists for 16 points in 15 games, helping the Hurricanes reach the Eastern Conference Final.

Taken No. 13 overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Jarvis spent parts of four seasons playing junior hockey with the Western Hockey League’s Portland Winterhawks. He scored 73 goals and added 93 assists for 166 points in 154 regular-season games.

His best season came in 2019-20, where in just 58 games, he posted 42 goals and 56 assists for 98 points.

The Hurricanes are now 7-3-0 with 14 points through their first 10 games of the 2025-26 regular season.
