On Wednesday, Carolina Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky announced the team has re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal carries an NHL AAV of $775,000, a minor-league salary of $300,000, with a guaranteed salary of $600,000.

Jost is coming off his first season with the Hurricanes, having signed a one-year contract with Carolina last July. That deal carried an NHL cap hit of $775,000 as well.

Tulsky admits Jost brings a level of depth to the organization.

“Tyson was able to contribute to our organization in a number of different ways last year, and we’re happy to keep him here,” Tulsky said in a release. “He’s extremely well-liked and hard-working and capable of playing a number of different roles in the lineup.”

Jost appeared in 39 games with the Hurricanes during the 2024-25 season, the fewest since he became a full-time pro in 2017. He scored four goals and five assists for nine points, posting a plus/minus of +2 while averaging 10:22 of ice time.

The St. Albert, Alberta native also played 14 games for Carolina’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. With one of the longest-standing franchises in the minors, Jost also potted four goals and five assists for nine points. He didn’t see any game in the postseason.

In 495 NHL games, which saw him make stops with the Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres before coming to Raleigh, Josh has scored 61 goals and 88 assists for 149 points. His best season came in 2018-19, his second full season with the Avs organization, during which he scored 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points.

In 52 AHL appearances, the 27-year-old has scored 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points.
