Charge, Frost earn PWHL Playoff berths; Victoire secures first place

The field is set.
With a couple of big wins on the final day of the regular season, the Ottawa Charge and Minnesota Frost have clinched spots in the 2025 PWHL Playoffs.
It was the exciting conclusion to the 2024-25 regular season, as both teams had to earn their spots into the postseason. The Charge simply had to beat the Toronto Sceptres in any fashion, while the Frost had to defeat the Boston Fleet in regulation or require the services of the Sceptres to beat Ottawa. The Fleet simply needed one point against the Frost.
The Frost, who entered the day in fifth place, burst out of the gate, scoring thrice in the opening 20 minutes. While that was going on, the Charge were fighting with the Sceptres, with captain Brianne Jenner scoring in the second period to tie the game.
Minnesota continued to pile on against Boston, with Britta Curl-Salemme scoring her second of the game to put Frost up 5-0 by the end of the middle frame.
That put pressure on the Charge to come away with a win. Their battle with Toronto went to overtime, with Kateřina Mrázová playing the hero. The Czech star’s third goal of the season gave Ottawa a 2-1 win, putting the team in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

— TSN (@TSN_Sports) May 3, 2025The Frost went on to win the game, 8-1, securing fourth place, eliminating the Fleet – who came into Saturday sitting third in the standings. With Boston losing, the Charge shot up to third place. All three teams finished with 44 points, but the Frost and Charge moved into the top four since they had more regulation wins.
The only other battle on Saturday was for first place, as the Sceptres had a chance to catch the first-place Montreal Victoire. However, since Toronto failed to win in regulation, the Victoire secured the top spot in the PWHL standings.
That means the Victoire will get to choose who they play in the semifinals. That decision will be announced on Sunday around 6 p.m. ET.
Here are the final regular season standings:
- Montreal Victoire (12-7-3-8) – 53 points
- Toronto Sceptres (12-3-6-9) – 48 points

- Minnesota Frost (10-5-4-11) – 44 points
