The Chicago Blackhawks are not only putting together wins at a clip that hasn’t been seen from them in years, they’re looking like an electrifying team in doing so.

Things got ugly in Chicago last season as Connor Bedard’s second year did not bring much improvement from either the franchise player or the team around him. The Hawks finished 25-46-11, last in the Central Division, as Bedard’s point-per-game rate dipped from 0.90 to 0.82.

Now, Bedard recently recorded his first career hat trick, and he has 14 points in 11 games as Chicago is off to a respectable 5-4-2 start behind the production of Bedard and Frank Nazar to go with some phenomenal goaltending from Spencer Knight.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton were joined by former Blackhawk star Patrick Sharp to discuss the team’s improvement so far this season.

Carter Hutton: The state of the Hawks, you know this is a market that’s been through some struggles since your run there, the dynasty you guys had. What’s your thoughts about Connor Bedard and the state of the Blackhawks? I’m sure it’s near and dear to you even though you’re working for the Flyers.

Patrick Sharp: I watch the games, I watch a lot of hockey, not just the Flyers… I try and keep up as best I can. The games this year seem way more exciting. I think you’re getting a chance to see some younger players there that the team has penciled in being some long-term Blackhawks, so that’s exciting to see them at the beginning part of their careers. As far as Bedard… I watch and respect his game. I just kind of chuckle at all the outside noise around the kid. He’s pretty darn good, and he was going into a tough situation as a rookie.
