The Chicago Blackhawks announced several transactions Monday morning.

The team placed forward Connor Bedard on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 12 with an upper-body injury. They also recalled goaltender Laurent Brossoit and defenseman Ethan Del Mastro and from their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

Bedard will be re-evaluated in the new year, coach Jeff Blashill said.

The Bedard news comes after the forward sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury at the end of their game last Friday against the St. Louis Blues. After taking a cross-check from Blues’ forward Brayden Schenn on the game’s final faceoff, Bedard fell backwards and appeared to be in immediate pain, heading straight to the locker room.

Through 31 games, Bedard has 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points. Nearly midway through his third NHL season, Bedard, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick, has 64 goals and 108 assists for 172 points and 181 career regular-season games.

As for Brossoit, 32, went 2-1-0 with a .900 save percentage (SV%) and 3.39 goals against average (GAA) in three AHL games this season. His in Chicago has been difficult, as he hasn’t played an NHL game since the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs when he was a member of the Winnipeg Jets. He signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with the Blackhawks in July 2024, but he would undergo meniscus surgery soon after and missed the entire 2024-25 campaign.

During his last full NHL season, Brossoit posted a 15-5-2 record with a .927 SV% and 2.00 GAA in 23 appearances. Across parts of 10 NHL seasons, the Port Alberni, B.C., native has a 64-46-13 record with a .911 SV% and 2.64 GAA in 140 career appearances with the Blackhawks, Jets, Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers. He won a Stanley Cup championship with the Golden Knights in 2023.

As for Del Mastro, the 22-year-old blueliner has one goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 27 AHL games this season. He also appeared in one NHL game with the Blackhawks in 2025-26.

Across three AHL seasons, the 2021 fourth-round pick has eight goals and 49 assists for 57 points in 143 regular-season games. He’s also played in 27 career NHL games, where he’s scored twice and added four assists for six points.
