The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Brett Seney to a one-year, two-way contract with a cap hit of $775,000. The contract runs through 2023-24.

Seney made his debut with the Blackhawks on Jan. 6 against the Arizona Coyotes; he has notched one goal in seven games with the Blackhawks this season. He has spent the majority of this season in the American Hockey League with the Rockford IceHogs. In 50 games, Seney has registered 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) and currently sits third on the team with points and tied for second in assists. He possesses 0.96 points per game.

The London, Ontario product was initially drafted in the sixth round (No. 157) of the 2015 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. The 5-foot-9 forward has tallied six goals and eight assists in 62 career NHL games. He has also had stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Devils. Seney has spent most of his career in the AHL, suiting up for the Binghamton Devils, Toronto Marlies and IceHogs, registering 66 goals and 122 assists for 188 points in 241 career games. 

Before going pro, Seney spent two seasons with the Kingston Voyageurs of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) before making the jump to the NCAA. He spent four seasons with Merrimack College in the Hockey East division, registering 115 points in 139 games. He was named to the NCAA (Hockey East) Third All-Star Team during the 2017-18 campaign when he scored 13 goals and 32 points in 37 games. 

The IceHogs currently sit fifth in the Central Division with a record of 30-24-5-4, and 69 points. They trail the Iowa Wild by three points, and the Manitoba Moose by eight points. The IceHogs play next on Friday against the Laval Rocket.
