Chris Stewart re-signs for another two years

Budding power forward Chris Stewart recently re-signed with the Colorado Avalanche for a reasonable 2.875 cap hit.  Even though the sophomore racked up an impressive 28 goals, his payday will need to wait until he can prove another two good years in the system.  Last season several young Avalanche had breakthrough seasons so expecting everyone on the team to expand on those years seems like a stretch, making the Avs very smart by signing Stewart short term.

As fantasy owners you should be happy Stewart can officially step on Colorado ice without being an insurance liability.  The worst thing a young forward could do to his development is miss time with a contract dispute.  Both Patrick O’Sullivan and Brandon Dubinsky seemed to really miss out on that additional development in the years they decided to sit out.

Expect more of the same from Stewart as long as he is married to the right of playmaking stud Paul Stastny.  At only 22-years-old Stewart certainly has more time to grow into his body and become even more physical in a scoring role.  Big things could be in store for this big winger.
