Colorado Avalanche defenceman Erik Johnson waives no-movement clause for expansion draft

Colorado Avalanche defenceman has waived his no-movement clause for the expansion draft, according to The Athletic’s Peter Baugh.
As was expected, #Avs defenseman Erik Johnson has officially waived his no-movement clause for the expansion draft, per a league source. Colorado is not required to put him on their protection list for the Seattle expansion draft.
Johnson still has a modified no-trade clause.

Johnson, 33, appeared in just four games for the Avalanche this season after being injured in early January. He was hit into the boards in a game against the Minnesota Wild and fell face-first onto the ice.
For the Avalanche, it helps provide a bit more flexibility come next week. The team will almost surely use three protected slots on young defencemen in Cale Makar, Samuel Girard and Devon Toews, meaning the team may still lose a young defenceman like Ryan Graves.
While Johnson is unlikely to be claimed, he still has two years left on a contract paying him $6-million.
