In the 11th hour, the Colorado Avalanche has come to terms with Gabriel Landeskog.

While last week it appeared the two parties were far from each other in talks, they’ve closed the gap and inked their captain.

The club announced the deal Tuesday night, one that was first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. PuckPedia was first to report the breakdown of his contract Wednesday morning:

The contract carries an AAV of $7-million and according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the deal comes with a full no-movement clause in the first four years and a modified no-trade clause in the final four seasons.

The deal came down to the wire and if Landeskog wasn’t signed heading into the opening of free agency, the two sides wouldn’t be able to sign an eight-year extension as that window would’ve closed.

He was listed as the number two free agent by Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli.

Landeskog has spent his whole career with the Avalanche after being drafted 2nd overall in the 2011 draft. He’s appeared in 687 game over the last 10 seasons scoring 218 goals and 512 points.

According to PuckPedia, the Avalanche now have $9.27-million in cap space with RFA’s Tyson Jost and Connor Timmins to sign.
