Avalanche sign Trent Miner to two-year contract extension

The Colorado Avalanche announced Monday that the club has signed goaltender Trent Miner to a two-year contract extension. Per PuckPedia, the contract carries a $775,000 average annual value.
Through 38 appearances last season with the AHL affiliated Colorado Eagles, Miner posted a 22-10-6 record alongside a .918 save percentage, 2.12 goals-against average, and three shutouts. Miner then saw another nine showings in the postseason in which he found the win column five times while posting a .925 save percentage and 2.15 goals-against average.
In mid-November, Miner made his NHL debut with the Avalanche, entering in relief against the Washington Capitals that saw him turn aside 12 of 13 shots in a 5-2 final. Miner then earned his first-ever start in mid-January against the Central Division rival Chicago Blackhawks in which he made 17 saves in a 3-1 losing effort.
Originally chosen by the Avalanche in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old native of Brandon, Man., has since played part of six seasons at the AHL level where through 68 total appearances he has posted a 35-22-11 career mark with a .919 save percentage, 2.21 goals-against average, and five shutouts. Miner has also played part of three seasons in the ECHL, most notably with the Utah Grizzlies in 2022-23 where through 37 outings he went 17-15-3 with a .910 save percentage, 3.04 goals-against average, and three shutouts.
A graduate of the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, Miner spent part of four seasons in the Canadian junior circuit from 2017-21. Through 84 total appearances with the Giants, Miner went 48-28-5 with a .910 save percentage, 2.49 goals-against average, and eight shutouts.
With Monday’s signing, Miner becomes one of five goaltenders under contract with the Avalanche for the coming campaign alongside starter Mackenzie Blackwood and backup Scott Wedgewood plus farmhands Ilya Nabokov and Isak Posch.
