Blue Jackets’ Boone Jenner to return after missing 14 games

One of the more prominent veterans is set to return to action.
According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Columbus Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner is set to return to the lineup on Thursday night when the team plays host to the Ottawa Senators.

Jenner was seen taking line rushes during the morning skate on the second line with youngsters Kent Johnson and Adam Fantilli.
Jenner has missed the past 14 games with the ailment that he suffered in a game against the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 11, and was later placed on injured reserve. He has been skating for the past couple of weeks and seems ready to jump back into game action.
The Blue Jackets did okay during their on-ice captain’s absence. The team went 5-4-5, but has lost three games in a row, including falling to the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes in regulation in the past week.
Jenner’s injury woes have been a concern over the course of his career. He hasn’t played a full 82-game season since the 2016-17 campaign, and a shoulder injury led to him being held out of action until February. The Dorchester, Ont. native was limited to just 26 games, in which he scored seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points.
Prior to the injury, Jenner had scored three goals and seven assists for 10 points. He also had a plus/minus of -7 while averaging a little over 16 minutes of ice time per game.
The Blue Jackets (13-11-6) are last in the Metropolitan Division, three points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
