Blue Jackets place Dysin Mayo on waivers

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Dysin Mayo on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, the club announced Wednesday afternoon.
Mayo, 29, has appeared in two NHL games with the Blue Jackets this season, collecting one assist and averaging 8:35 of ice time. The 6’0″, 190-pound defenseman is under contract for the 2025-26 season at a $775,000 NHL cap hit.
The Blue Jackets placed Mayo on waivers in part to make room for Egor Zamula, whom the club signed to a one-year deal on Monday after his previous contract was terminated by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After parts of seven seasons in the AHL to begin his professional career, Mayo finally cracked the NHL with the Coyotes in the 2021-22 season, collecting four goals and 12 points in 67 games.
Mayo appeared in another 15 games with the Coyotes the following season before being reassigned to the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. Late in the 2022-23 campaign, the Coyotes traded Mayo to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick, as well as the remaining balance of Shea Weber’s contract.
Relegated to the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights for his entire tenure in the Vegas organization, Mayo joined the Blue Jackets as an unrestricted free agent on July 16, 2025. The Victoria, B.C. product has skated in 19 games with AHL Cleveland this year, recording two goals and seven points.
Also on Tuesday, Anaheim Ducks forward Nikita Nesterenko cleared waivers after being made available the previous day. The 24-year-old has one goal and nine points in 27 games with the Ducks this season.
