Blue Jackets sign Dmitri Voronkov to two-year contract

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Saturday they had signed forward Dmitri Voronkov to a two-year, $8.35 million contract that will pay him $4.175 million through the 2026-27 season.

In 2024-25, Voronkov hit career highs in all offensive categories, scoring 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points and 55 penalty minutes in 73 regular-season games. He led the Blue Jackets in power play goals and was fourth in total goals.
“We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core,” Blue Jackets’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell said in a press release. “He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket.”
Through two NHL seasons, the 24-year-old Voronkov has 41 goals and 40 assists for 81 points and 107 penalty minutes in 148 career regular-season games.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Voronkov spent parts of five seasons in Russia’s KHL with the Kazan Ak-Bars, scoring 37 goals and 37 assists for 74 points in 182 career games.
Internationally, Voronkov has represented Russia on a number of occasions. He helped his nation earn a silver medal at the 2020 World Junior Championships, scoring three goals and four assists for seven points. He also helped Russia earn a silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics, recording an assist.
The Blue Jackets went 40-33-9 with 89 points in 2024-25, finishing fourth in the Metropolitan Division. Columbus missed the playoffs, falling short of a Wild Card spot by two points.
