Blue Jackets sign Owen Sillinger, Christian Jaros to one-year deals

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Tuesday the signing of forward Owen Sillinger and defenseman Christian Jaros to one-year, two way contracts.

Sillinger, 27, played one game with the Blue Jackets in 2024-25, making his NHL debut. He played most of the season with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, scoring 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 44 regular-season games.

In four AHL seasons, Sillinger, a native of Regina, Sask., scored 36 goals and 78 assists for 114 points in 202 career regular-season games, all with the Monsters. In 14 career AHL playoff games, he has three goals and three assists for six points.

As for Jaros, 29, last played in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils in 2021-22, recording two penalty minutes and averaging 11:01 of ice time. In 94 career NHL games, Jaros has a goal and 13 assists for 14 points with the Devils, San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators. He has also spent four seasons in the AHL with the Belleville Senators and San Jose Barracuda, scoring five goals and 29 assists for 34 points in 90 regular-season games.

A native of Kosice, Slovakia, Jaros spent the last three seasons with the KHL, playing with Omsk Avangard, CSKA Moscow and Cherepovets Severstal. During that time, he scored eight goals and 34 assists for 42 points in 132 total games.

The Blue Jackets went 40-33-9 with 89 points in 2024-25, fourth in the Metropolitan Division and two points shy of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
