Daily Faceoff experiences record-breaking readership on Trade Deadline Day

What a journey it has been here on the Daily Faceoff news site.

Three years ago, we didn’t exist. Daily Faceoff was a fantasy entity only, the place you came for your lines and starting goalies. It still is those things, but it has evolved into so much more since beginning its rapid expansion in June 2021 when insider Frank Seravalli first took over as President of content. Over the past three years, we’ve grown our readership more than 300 percent, all thanks to your loyalty as readers.

Flash forward to last week, and the 2024 Trade Deadline was a proud moment for DFO. We had five hours of nonstop coverage on Daily Faceoff Live, with Tyler Yaremchuk running the ship as host, Frank Seravalli breaking trades, Colby Cohen and Carter Hutton providing insight from their playing days and Matt Larkin and Steven Ellis analyzing trades. We produced 52 stories on DFO during deadline day thanks to hard work of our news team. And with your support as readers, we’re proud to say we set a new record for readership on deadline day last week.

Highlighted and anchored by DFO’s five-hour live special on March 8, The Nation Network delivered fans non-stop
content geared toward the day’s biggest storylines and hottest rumblings, all the while amplifying its
commercial partners across its suite of digital sports media channels. DFO’s 2024 Trade Deadline Show –
streamed live on YouTube, Twitter (X), Facebook and Instagram – increased viewership 65% over its
2023 NHL Trade Deadline Show. When accounting for TNN’s entire catalogue of programming to air on
March 8 , it amassed more than 170,000 live podcast and video views across six shows – DFO Trade Deadline,
Leafs Morning Take, Coming In Hot, Barn Burner, Sekeres & Price, OilersNation Everyday and Canucks
Conversation
. Additionally, as a continuation of TNN’s efforts to expand the reach of its offerings, DFO’s
2024 Trade Deadline Show was syndicated on Anthem Sports & Entertainment’s specialty television
channel, Game+.

Bolstering this breadth of video distribution, TNN’s portfolio of websites attracted two million unique users
and generated in excess of 11.6 million pageviews between Feb. 27 and March 8, peaking with more
than 1.4 million pageviews on March 8.

DFO’s YouTube channel continues to experience strong growth and momentum amongst young, digitally
native audiences. Between March 1 and 8, DFO’s YouTube channel engaged an audience
comprised of 55% adults between the ages of 18-44. During the same period, DFO produced video
content with more than 30,000 hours of watch time on YouTube.

We’ve grown so much in the past few years, but we’re only just getting started. Our parent company, Playmaker Capital, under the stewardship of our new owner, Better Collective, has big plans for expanded hockey coverage in the days, weeks, months and years to come. If you like seeing the growth of round-the-clock coverage at DFO, just wait and see what comes next.

Thank you DFO readers for playing the most important role of all in helping us grow: providing us with loyal support and devotion to the sport we all love.
