Daily Faceoff Live: Metropolitan Division Stocking Stuffers

Seravalli: “It’s time for Stocking Stuffers. We handed out some to Central Division teams earlier in the week so let’s do the Metropolitan Division.

I want to give a little bit of love to the Carolina Hurricanes because I don’t believe people recognize how consistent they’ve been and how little they’ve played at home. This comes from Sara Civian who mentioned it at Bleacher Report, 19 of Carolina’s first 28 games of the season were on the road, which means 50 of their first 64 games of the season involved travel, and 27 of those days were outside the eastern time zone.

So my stocking stuffer for the Hurricanes is a little more home cooking. What are you handing out?”

Mike McKenna: “I’ve got two quick ones here.

I’ve got an Alex Ovechkin stick for Mat Barzal because he’s only shooting at five percent this season and he only has four goals so far. His play-making has been great, as he’s got 27 assists, but this guy needs some hook on that blade. He needs to start burying some pucks.

And then the other one is for the New Jersey Devils. They need a one-timer threat on their power play. If that means splitting up Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt and the rest of that unit, so be it. Lindy Ruff, split those guys up, find a one-timer option, and get your power play going, because it’s less than 20 percent right now and it’s been in the bottom third of the league all year long.”

Seravalli: “I’m also going to give John Tortorella a tank top because he’s been flexing his muscles all year.”
