Daily Faceoff Live: Too early to count out the St. Louis Blues?

Frank Seravalli was joined by Mike McKenna on Daily Faceoff Live Monday to discuss the Western Conference playoff race and if the St. Louis Blues still have a chance to make it.
Frank Seravalli: Let’s take a look at the West playoff picture briefly. There’s been a couple of developments in the past week and I want to ask you, what’s been the more significant one, is it the St. Louis Blues suddenly coming back from the dead right after they lose Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko? They go 3-1 on their road trip and all of a sudden you’re saying there’s a chance.
Also the Colorado Avalanche appear to be getting healthy and playing a bit better as well. Which one is bigger for the West playoff race?
Mike McKenna: I think realistically it’s probably Colorado, even though St. Louis does not want to say to anybody that they’re out of the race because they believe in themselves. Even after the game on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild, Brayden Schenn said to the media, you want to write us off but we’re not going to do that. We’re going to keep grinding. But I think realistically for St. Louis it’s going to be a tough road.
Look in the West now, you’ve got Minnesota, Seattle, Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado, and St. Louis. There’s six teams there and for me two of them are not going to make it. So who could potentially fall out of that, who hasn’t been consistently good enough this year, Colorado again with the health, we saw MacKinnon with the beating absolutely everybody and scoring on Stuart Skinner over the glove in that come from behind victory over Edmonton.
I think that team is going to be in the mix so for me Frank, even Calgary had a really rough first 25 games of the season, tough schedule, they’ve got points in eight of their last 10 games. And it sets up this week, Tuesday and Thursday, Calgary and St. Louis face off in St. Louis and I think that could really give us an indication of what may be to come the rest of the year in the West.
