Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays – January 29th

Roman Josi for Betway bonus code 4.23

It’s a bit of a different slate tonight, with just one game between the Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators. Yet, still, there are some value options we can find in the showdown slate, despite some challenging pricing. Let’s take a look at two defensemen who can help you get different tonight.

This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt defensemen options.

These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.

FULL DFO Daily Projections

Roman Josi (D, NSH) – @ OTT – (DK-$9,400 / FD $14,000)
DFO Projection:
DK-14.6 / FD-19.6

For as good as he is, I wonder if Roman Josi gets a bit overlooked on this slate due to other “high value” players on the slate. People might flock to Brady Tkachuk or Filip Forsberg above him in salary, or might go to the Tim Stutzle/Ryan O’Reilly/Drake Batherson/Claude Giroux/Thomas Chabot tier below him.

He is one of the most expensive players on the slate on both sites and is still projected as the top-value play on the entire slate. I think playing Josi, who provides excellent shot and block volume, in the captain spot might be a great way to get different tonight.

Jacob Bernard-Docker (D, OTT) – vs NSH – ($4,600 / $7,500)
DFO Projection: DK-5.6 / FD-7.2

If we’re going to pay up for the likes of Josi, we’re going to need to pay down in some other spots, and Bernard-Docker provides some solid value in doing so. That’s thanks to his excellent shot and block volume, which, on a per-hour rate, are the highest among all defensemen in this game. He will be very live for the shot block bonus against a Nashville team that has good volume from their forwards.
