Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays – March 12th

This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt options for defensemen. These largely revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings.

A new addition is the “honourable mention forwards,” taking a look at some low-owned plays that expectations should be tempered with. Still, they bring some level of value in the form of a strong projection tonight, or good past production against their opponents.

These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.

FULL DFO Daily Projections

Jared McCann (C, SEA) – vs. VGK – (DK-$5,400 / FD $6,700)
DFO Projection:
DK-13.4 / FD-18

McCann has been on fire lately, scoring 1.9 goals per hour and 4.5 points per hour over his last 25 games. He has very low ownership on this slate and a solid matchup against the Golden Knights.

Owen Tippett (W, SJS) – vs. SJS – ($6,800 / $7,000)
DFO Projection: DK-15.1 / FD-19.1

Owen Tippett is almost always a solid play, but he’s popping tonight with a great matchup against the San Jose Sharks. He has the highest shots on goal per hour rate of any forward on this slate over his last 25 games at 14.6, and should have no issue keeping that up tonight.

Seth Jones (D, CHI) vs. ANA ($5,900 / $6,100)
DFO Projection: DK-12.1 / FD-15.4

After a four-assist performance against the Arizona Coyotes the other day, Jones is popping on the charts as the best defenseman value on either site. Taking on the Anaheim Ducks, DFO loves him to keep producing tonight.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (D, SJS) @ PHI ($3,700 / $4,400)
DFO Projection: DK-8.4 / FD-10.5

Pickles is in play on both sites, and is projecting for next-to-no ownership on this slate. Still, DFO projects him to have 2.6 blocks, being live for the bonus on Draftkings, and he carries great shot and block volume for his role. Oh year — his 0.8 goals per hour over his last 25 games is tied for the most among regular defensemen on this slate with Cale Makar.

  3. Alexander Nylander (W, CBJ3) ($4,600/$4,700): DK-8.9 / FD-11.3
