Daily Faceoff NHL DFS Value Plays – March 18th
This value sheet includes salaries, projections for DraftKings and FanDuel, and three punt options for defensemen. These largely revolve around their ability to produce peripheral points by taking shots and blocking them. These players are always live for the bonus on DraftKings.
A new addition is the “honourable mention forwards,” taking a look at some low-owned plays that expectations should be tempered with. Still, they bring some level of value in the form of a strong projection tonight, or good past production against their opponents.
These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game sample has too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Instead, the projections represent a player’s average performance on average if that matchup was played repeatedly. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent each player’s average of those possibilities.
FULL DFO Daily Projections
Jared McCann (C, SEA) – vs. BUF – (DK-$6,200 / FD $6,800)
DFO Projection: DK-13.4 / FD-19.4
On a weird slate as a whole, Jared McCann is far and away the top value play-up front on both sites tonight even with around 30 percent ownership. He’s been shooting the lights out lately, with 1.9 goals per hour over his last 25 games, while racking up a massive 4.4 points per hour over that stretch. The matchup may not be the best tonight, but McCann should be a lock to produce.
Yegor Sharangovich (W, CGY) – vs. WSH – ($6,100 / $5,800)
DFO Projection: DK-9.9 / FD-13.2
Sometimes you have to pay up to get different, and that’s the definition of this spot tonight. Sharangovich isn’t cheap, but he’s projecting for around 10 percent ownership as others with similar value have double that number. He’s scoring well and producing, and skates on Calgary’s top power play unit — one expected to score .73 goals tonight.
Daniil Miromanov (D, CGY) – vs. WSH – ($4,700 / $3,800)
DFO Projection: DK-8.2 / FD-9.8
Speaking of the Flames power play, Miromanov is quarterbacking it since joining the team. He’s got two goals and 15 shots in five games there and has taken a big step forward in his play. He looks like a great play at under 15 percent ownership.
Ryker Evans (D, SEA) – vs. BUF – ($2,800 / $3,600)
DFO Projection: DK-5.4 / FD-7.0
Buyer, beware here, but Evans is popping in the DFO value ranks on DraftKings as the sixth-highest value play. I’d probably hold off on playing him on FanDuel, but he’s projecting for under one percent ownership.
