Daily Faceoff’s Fan-Voted Team Canada Roster

With each passing day more NHL games get postponed and the likelihood of NHL players going to the Olympics dwindles.
Still, that did not stop us from seeing who you think should represent Canada in the Beijing Olympics. For days you voted for the 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goalies.
Here are the results.
*Reserves are based on players who received fewer votes*
Forwards
Unsurprisingly, your locks were Nathan MacKinnon, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, Mark Stone and Jonathan Huberdeau. Players like Brayden Point, Steven Stamkos, Mitch Marner, Ryan O’Reilly and John Tavares comfortably made the roster, getting at least 77 percent of the votes–but there was at least some question whether they should be on the team.
The last two forwards in were Mark Scheifele and Sean Couturier, with Mathew Barzal being the first player who missed, receiving 46.7 percent of the votes. He was followed by Tom Wilson (20.2%) and Zach Hyman (18.8%).

Defensemen
There was a little more debate about which defensemen should be on the team. The locks were Cale Makar, Alex Pietrangelo and Aaron Ekblad. 11 players received at least 30 percent of the vote, with Shea Theodore, Dougie Hamilton, Darnell Nurse, Morgan Rielly and Thomas Chabot rounding out the group.
Drew Doughty and Devon Toews received 48.4 and 42.5 percent of the votes, narrowly missing the team. This will probably fire Doughty up.

Goalies
The one perceived weakness of Team Canada is its goaltending. So who do you think were the three best options?
Marc-Andre Fleury was the overwhelming favorite to be the No.1 netminder for Canada, garnering 77.4 percent of the votes. Despite not playing a single game this season, you still believe that Carey Price will be the No.2 (51.6%). Jordan Binnington (44.6%) narrowly beat out Carey Hart (38.7%) for the No.3 spot.
Darcy Kuemper and Hart likely would have been more highly regarded if they didn’t struggle through the first two months of the season.
