Daily Fantasy Hockey GPP Picks: 01-31-18

On this three game short slate there are some very obvious options in GPPs tonight but they can’t be ignored.

Toronto

The obvious chalk of the night is going to be the Maple Leafs playing at home against the Isles going on a back to back, however, they have three viable lines, so outside of Auston Mathews, the ownership should be fairly spread. Obviously, my top target for the night will be the Mathews lines who is with William Nylander and Zach Hyman. Since it is a short slate people will try to jam in as many studs as they can so people will overlook Hyman so using the full line could be a tad lower owned than just using Mathews and Nylander.

Another target for me from the Leafs is the third line of James van RiemsdykTyler BozakMitch Marner. This line is going to face the depth of the Isles which is definitely advantage Leafs as the Isles are a pretty poor defensive team, especially on the road.

Nikita Zaitsev is returning for the Leafs tonight and he is only $3,000 on DraftKings. It remains to be seen if he will see any power play time, however at that price he will be an extremely good value in GPPs.

Flyers

While the top line for Philadelphia is a good target I’m turning my attention to the second line of Jake VoracekNolan PatrickWayne Simmonds. It remains to be seen, however, I think they will be matched up with the Alex Ovechkin line, but even if they are matched up against a different line they have a shot to be very productive. Rookie Nolan Patrick gets two really good line mates and hopefully will take advantage and at $3,400 provides very good value on DraftKings.

Brent Burns

As long as Burns is still under $7,500 on DraftKings he will most certainly be in play for me. Even though the Sharks are on a back to back they get a good matchup with the Detroit Red Wings who are starting Petr Mrazek. The Wings have all kinds of trouble in their own end and with Joe Thornton out for the Sharks look for Burns to make an even bigger impact especially on the Power play.
